Genesis 12: 2 & 3.
I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
Have you ever thought about how your life would have been if you didn’t make some bad decisions in your life?
Have you thought about decisions will affect your family and future generations?
I do. Sometimes I wish I could relive moments of the past. Don’t we all?
In Genesis we see that blessings are passed down. Also curses. Today we focus on blessing your family.
Genesis 17: 7
And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.
These are stories of ONE families covenant with God. One person/family can change society. Just like Jesus.
The family lived in North Carolina since before the civil war. Also, over the Appalachians in Tennessee.
A pastor saw how illiterate the community was. So he instituted a school called Trinity. A name to honor God. Today that school is called Duke University. A blessing to thousands in education.
A family of Christians decided it was wrong to hold people captive. So they worked in the underground railroad. In return, God blessed the family for generations. During the great depression, this family did not suffer.
A Christian man, heeded the call to war. Though he didn’t want to harm people, he heard the voice of God to go . He ended up being the most decorated American soldier during world war I. He saved hundreds of lives in the war. A movie was made of his life. He took that money from the movie and invested it into the community. Schools, roads and electricity. He did this to honor God. In return, God honored him. Not only was he considered the national hero, but the state bought him land and built him a home. This home is now a national museum.
A judge decided the people needed an honest, Godly judge. During a time when judges were bought and paid for. Soon he was appointed to the supreme court.
This is just one family. Generations of God fearing and Jesus loving people. Proof that God knows what he is doing. Proof that one person can change history.
Please accept Christ. He is the way, truth and life. God will bless your families for it.
