Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jesus has our future.
There was a dream. A man was taken to a foreign land. An old wooden shack stood on a hillside. A voice said, “enter in.” What was this? The man thought to himself. It’s an old dilapidated shanty.
As the man entered, he could see sunlight beaming through the crevices of wood. Streams of dust highlighted the sunlight. Wood slats set on top of bricks for benches. The floor, dirt. The humidity was terrible, thought the man. Around the room, people praying. Standing, kneeling, crying, smiling, the worshippers of Christ.
The man could feel the presence of God. A voice said , “this is pure worship.”
I know, people want to make their own destiny. Yet God has better ideas for you. It may not seem like it, with problems all around you, but it’s true.
The first step is faith. Trust, reliance and patience in God. Second step is prayer. Heart felt prayer. Crying out to Jesus.
Story: I had been in a depression for 7 days. 2 of my closest friends had died. I cried out to God for answers. Why would He allow something like that? My friends, Mark and Ben, had great futures. I would trade places with either of them in a second. Not only was I grieving, but I had guilt. One minute we were laughing and joking. The next they were dead. What a foul joke life was playing on me. I drifted off to sleep thinking about this.
Suddenly, I was walked through a door. The room I entered was completely white. It was glowing, it was so bright. A door opposite of the room opened. “Mark!” I screamed. “They said you were dead!”. We gave each other a big hug. We were both crying. All I could say was, “I thought you were dead.”. We sat on folding chairs and started to talk. Joy filled my heart. We talked for hours. About what? I don’t remember.
I felt the conversation lagging. Mark said he was ready to go. He said, “everything will work out for the better. You will see.”. His last words etched in my memory.
God will surprise you completely. He can use anyone or anything to bring you a message. We DO have a future and a hope as Jeremiah wrote. Jesus Christ can replace it all! Jesus perfect love replaces suffering.
Yes, human ity isn’t perfect. Disciples of Christ only strive to emulate. God doesn’t ask for much, a true heart of love.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16
I want to share one last thing. I used to believe I was called to be a pastor. Then called to teach. Then I tried mission work. Maybe some kind of writer. Nothing like that. My destiny is to follow Jesus. It’s satisfying. What about you?
God bless family .
