Called 4 Jesus

Wanting people to get close to Jesus

Final curtain call

2 Corinthians 5:8-10. NIV

8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Lately, I’ve been talking to people who want to kill themselves. Death is awaiting all. Yet a Christian who dies has promises from God. Suicide has no promises. I’m sorry to say.

I’ve never heard a full sermon on death. A touchy subject. I want to shed some knowledge. So to speak.

I want to share some stories.

Story 1: A man had lost everything . He had no humans who cared for him. He decided to hang himself. As he was hanging by the neck, he could hear demonic laughter.

The man knew he was dying, but fear gripped him tightly. The laughter scared him back to life and wriggled free from the noose.

Is this what you want to experience, beloved?

Story 2: A man lost his business and killed himself. This started a chain reaction of depression in the family. The godson went so deep into depression that it nearly ruined his life. The godson drank, did drugs and didn’t care about himself or others.

Is this what you want to do to your family, beloved?

God can get a hold of you and change your life. There are people who are ready to help.

Now, the brighter side of death. Yes, there is a positive story. Yay!

Story: when Einstein died, science researchers removed his brain. This was done in hopes of finding the secret of this mans vast intelligence. Science thought they found a speck, different from other brains, but weren’t sure.

The bible is clear… Man is spirit, soul and body. Body dies, then the spirit and soul are released. Read the above scripture again. You see, science only had a mass of flesh. Not again to be useful.

Einsteins intelligence left his body, but where did it go?

“…away from the body and at home with the Lord.”

So here’s the exciting news. We all stand before God. Good or bad. You choose on earth. God decides in heaven.

Think of it this way. You are a remote airplane. Yet you can’t fly forever on a single charge. You need to go to the power source. So Christians plug into God, the ever ready. The one and only source of power.

Non believers? Well, God decides that fate. Are you strong enough to stand in front of God by yourself? Or would you like some help?

You see, we are 110 volt. God is one million volts. Jesus is the adapter. Without Jesus our little battery will explode at the power source.

Here’s what I found interesting. The more I get to know Jesus, God, holy Spirit, the less I fear death.

Here’s a famous movie line. “Don’t you fear death?”. “it’s just that I don’t cling to life.”

Here is an interesting thought. Christians are zombie worshippers (because Jesus rose from the dead). When confronted with this, I said, “you’re absolutely right. How did you find this information? I need to research it for myself.”. “You heard it from blah blah?”. “How did you research it?”. “Oh, maybe you can read the Bible and compare it with other zombie literature or experts.”

Ok, I digress. I just wanted to lighten the mood.

God bless, beloved.
